Machiavelli:

the mis

understood

ABOUT

Machiavelli: the misunderstood is the first instalment of theoritorial— a perediza series exploring philosophical theory through editorial.

We conceptualized and developed the full creative vision, visual direction, styling, and narrative — drawing from Niccolò Machiavelli's philosophy of power, control, and political detachment to build a photoshoot that feels less like fashion and more like a painting you're not supposed to touch.

The editorial is structured around two characters: the Ruler and the Seeker. The Ruler — cold, distant, sovereign — and The Seeker — fragile, longing, undone.

Through a palette of blood red, aged ivory, and candlelit shadow, and a color grade inspired by Old Master oil paintings, Machiavelli: the misunderstood explores the dynamics of authority and submission, emotional distance and desperate closeness — asking whether power is something you hold, or something that holds you.
